On April 3rd, our team celebrated the end of the Winter 2024 semester. Our research team members and SMERG members gathered together. Limin, our supervisor, Marta, and Allison treated us to delicious foods (Thanks!).

On March 21-22, 2024, some members of our team presented at the McGill Education Graduate Students’ Society (EGSS) Conference.
On March 20, 2024, The Jao Research team held a learning session on Conferences We invited Dr. Marta Kobiela (DISE, McGill University), Dr. Lisa Lunney Borden (School of Education, St. Francis Xavier), Dr. Dawn Wiseman (School of Education, Bishop's University) to join our discussion. We began our discussion by sharing the experiences of four professors at conferences. Following that, we had question and answer time. Graduate RAs posed questions regarding networking, presentation types, preparations, and more. The professors generously shared many helpful tips and tricks on these topics. The upcoming CSSE conference is scheduled to take place in June in Montreal. We are eager to apply our learning from this session soon! We are looking forward to discussion/learning in our upcoming sessions! On February 13, 2024, The Jao Research team held a learning session on Research Logistics We invited Dr. Lisa Lunney Borden (School of Education, St. Francis Xavier) and Dr. Dawn Wiseman (School of Education, Bishop's University) to join our discussion. We started off our discussion by sharing three professors' experiences of research logistics. We discuss challenging in getting approval from REB (Research Ethics Board) and recruiting participants. Participating undergraduate and graduate research assistants could have a big picture of overall research logistics as well as learn how to tackle those challenges! We are looking forward to discussion/learning in our upcoming sessions! We have a new PhD Candidate in our team! Congratulations Midhat on successfully defending your PhD Candidacy!
On December 19, 2023, Midhat defended her PhD Candidacy titled "Designing a Transformative & Transdisciplinary Student-led STEAM Club to Foster University Students' Sustainability Competencies using Participatory Visual Research" in the Department of Integrated Studies in Education. On November 15, 2023, The Jao Research team held a learning session on knowledge dissemination
We invited Dr. Lisa Lunney Borden (School of Education, St. Francis Xavier), Dr. Marta Kobiela and Dr. Susan Ballinger (Department of Integrated Studies in Education, McGill University) to join our discussion. We started off our discussion about the meaning and values of knowledge dissemination, and then we discussed various ways or forms of knowledge dissemination, including Infographics, YouTube videos, Podcast, and etc. We also talked about factors to consider to decide content and format of knowledge dissemination (e.g., target audience, pros and cons of each format). We are looking forward to discussion/learning in our upcoming sessions!
